How NLP Can Make Your Life Better

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) involves the study of the human subconscious so that they are able to attain excellence in their life. NLP is all about influencing of human behavior by adapting certain habits and procedures.

In a sense, you can benefit so much from knowing more about the power of the subconscious and the influence it can have in your life.

NLP works by identifying the essential attributes of exceptional talent, successful attitudes, and empowering beliefs. It basically involves bypassing the conscious part of the mind and heading straight to the subconscious where the subjective experience lies.

The idea of NLP was first developed in the early 1970’s by a scientist named Richard Bandler and a linguistics professor named John Grinder. They concentrated their studies on successful people so that they can analyze and translate human excellence.

With their efforts combined, they were able to find out just how the brain programmed itself to experience only the good things in life.

Past experiences play a big role in the decisions that we make. If we’ve been traumatized as a result of a choice we made, then chances are we will try to avoid a similar situation at all costs.

Our actions are a direct response to the thoughts and memories stored inside our head. Our experience basically has a structure. When we attempt to change the structure, our experience will automatically change with it.

The idea of NLP lies on the fact that we always try to communicate, with ourselves or with the people around us. Even when we aren’t engaged in a dialogue, our thoughts are still there to tell us about what we want to think about at the moment.

That is still, in fact, a form of communication. You can turn to neuro-linguistic programming when you want to enhance personality traits and behaviors. The first thing to do is to understand that our perception of reality is based on our subjective beliefs.

Sometimes, you can’t help but look at the world from your point of view even when you know that it can somewhat be flawed. This limits your reactions to the way you see the situation.

This basically means that we don’t always understand our experiences and try to come up with reasons that are just too far off from the actual reality. NLP helps you find ways to completely remove this destructive habit.

NLP also teaches you to remove any form of hesitation in yourself so that you can go beyond your limits. You go into knowing about the factors that cause you to fear and see the situation in a totally new perspective.

Just look at the most successful people in today’s world and you will realize that all of them were willing to try the unknown and take risks. You can increase your levels of happiness by transforming every facet to your personality.

NLP gives you the confidence you’ll need so that you can stay strong and stand firm in your mission. There will always be people who will try to bring you down when you climb your way up to the top. The questions is, will you allow them to bring you down? NLP tells you when and how to say no.

You can finally appreciate yourself and be proud of your talents with the help of hypnosis. The human mind can do so much, and it’s time for you to open the doors to the hundreds of possibilities.

The 5 Best Self Help Books By Matt Maresca

I am an avid reader of self help books. I love to get inspired and then make some changes to my life. Each day of my life I try to grow in one area. Self help books give me ideas of new ways to keep myself in constant growth.

Having read a large number of great self help books, it was difficult to narrow my list down to the five best. I feel that this list here should be required reading for anyone, no matter what you do for a living.

In fact, I would recommend you read each book multiple times and take copious notes as you do. The small details that you miss could be the golden nuggets that you need to take your life to the next level.

What is great about this list is that each book covers a different aspect of personal growth.

One book is about creating positive habits for success. The second book is about appreciating the difficulties of life. The third is about improving your relationships with those you come in contact with. The fourth deals with wealth and happiness. And the fifth deals with becoming a master in one area of life.

So without further delay, here is my list of the five best self help books.

1) 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey

This is simply a tremendous book on creating positive habits that promote productivity. Covey teaches you how to clear the clutter out of your life and mind and just get things done.

The teachings in this book have inspired many of the top personal development gurus in the world. It is truly a modern classic.

2) The Dip by Seth Godin

This little book does not get the credit it deserves. It is short and to the point. It is an easy read, which allows for immediate action. This book will change the way you view life’s problems.

All of life’s challenges are in place for a reason and Godin explains why you should learn to love these challenges. Seth Godin is a tremendous self help educator and this is, by far, his most underrated work.

3) How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

This book is a timeless classic. It was written many years ago, but the teachings are still very much valid today. When I first read it, I was skeptical being that it was such an old book.

Yet, when I began reading, I immediately saw the power it holds. If you ever come in contact with another human being in life, this book can help you. It teaches you not only how to make friends, but how to get people to listen to you and respect you.

After reading this book, you will get more out of all your relationships in life…if you apply the principles.

4) 7 Strategies for Wealth and Happiness by Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn is my favorite motivational guru of all time. He was a great speaker and had a great mind. He knew exactly what to say to get things to make sense to people.

This is also clear in his writing. This book will teach you how to change your life by putting yourself in a position for success. Your attitude about wealth and happiness will change after reading this book.

You will go from blaming the world to challenging yourself to rise above it.

5) Mastery: The Keys to Success and Long-Term Fulfillment by George Leonard

This book is unique to anything I have ever read. It teaches you how to take one area of your life and become a complete master of it.

Mastery is really only possible in one thing at a time, yet so many of us try to be good at everything. By focusing on one thing to master, we can create something of high value for the world that will surpass anything else we could have otherwise done.

This is definitely a must read to get you thinking about where you are headed in your life’s journey.

These five best self help books can change your life. In fact, if you allow them to they will change your life. They will change the way you view everything and will help you improve your attitude and habits.

Each day of your life is special. These books will help you grow to make the most of every moment from this day forward.

Matt Maresca is an author and lover of life. His passion is in self growth, and he has read many of the best self help books as seen in this article.

Jerry Green’s Top Ten Adversity Busters by Mike Walker

I’ve navigated plenty of speed bumps on life’s road. My father’s death led me to an entirely different career than my planned one. My business burned to the ground. Unscrupulous partners left me with a $15 million dollar debt. My doctor diagnosed me with a disease that a year earlier would have meant probable death.

Some people call it adversity. I call it life. I’m going to share with you my philosophy for dealing with the downs that will no doubt accompany the ups. Some will make you want to smack your forehead because they are so obvious. But as I mentioned earlier, the key to business is taking in more than you pay out, and scores of business fail every year because they forget simple things like that.

Finally, I’ve got to say that I’m skeptical of anyone who claims to have the magic solution to your life. These things have worked for me, but they might not work for you. It’s important for you to know yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, and devise a success strategy that fits your personality.

Here is my top-ten list of adversity-busters:

Don’t panic. When something unexpected comes your way, shouting, “Oh my God, I’m ruined!” is not conducive to handling the situation. Remain calm and you’ll send a message to your brain that you might be able handle the situation after all.

Take the emotion out of it. To come up with a rational solution, you have to have a rational approach, and that’s hard to do while your blood is boiling.

Build and use your networks. Develop and maintain a diverse group of associates and friends. Take the initiative in keeping in touch. If you only contact someone when you need their help, they’ll cringe when your number comes up on their caller ID.

Be polite. The bank teller you cursed at might be the vice-president in charge of granting you a loan in a few years.

Get a plan down on paper. Review and list your assets and resources, then make a plan, Figure out what you need to do, and break it down into small steps if the big picture overwhelms you.

Pay attention. It’s been proven that what people call ESP is often just a finely tuned sense of what is going on around them. Once Carol Burnett woke up in the middle of the night and decided to move to the other side of the bed to sleep. Shortly after there was an earthquake and a very large, heavy big-screen TV fell from a shelf on to her bed, where she usually sleeps. In her sleep her subconscious sensed small tremors that led to big ones, and she paid attention.

It’s not unusual for me to make a serious business decision after only a few minutes. I get a certain feel about whatever it is I’m considering, and I go with it. I’m not saying don’t be careful, but be aware of the things your mind is trying to tell you. This works whether you’re dealing with adversity or on the lookout for new opportunities. If I hadn’t paid attention when I saw an ad for franchising a new, fledging rental car business, I would have missed out on Budget Rent-A-Car, which turned out to be even more lucrative than the car business.

Don’t waste time looking back. Every second you spend thinking “If only…” or “I should have…” is a second you could spend developing another opportunity. Maybe somebody told you to invest in Microsoft 15 years ago and you didn’t. So what? Dwelling on the past paralyzes you in the present.

Know thyself. Understand your strengths and weaknesses.

View your challenges as opportunities. Earlier in the book I talked about what my stepfather said when my business burned down. He told me it was the best thing that could have happened to me, because I could make a fresh start. That’s the attitude I took. He was right.

Ask for help. Be smart about it when you do. I asked Kansas City businessman Frank Morgan for a $15 million loan and he gave it to me. But first he made sure I knew my business. Give people a reason to help, and they usually will.

Good luck out there on the highway!

by Mike Walker

Jerry Green owns WHB810, America’s largest all-sports radio station. His new biography, “Autos to Airwaves, Mantle to the Mob,” is available at http://www.moonbookstore.com/ . Starting out in the car business, Jerry owned a Playboy Club, one of the original Budget Rent-a-Car franchises, and a series of banks before venturing into the world of media.

Affirmations, What you need to know to achieve the best results.

What did you do the last time you thought you had a bad habit? Nothing much, right? Perhaps just told yourself that you can’t continue like this. But telling yourself once can’t really fetch desired results. In fact that bad habit is probably still with you right?

Repetitively uttering resolutions with emotion tied into them does the trick. So how do you go about it? Write down your resolution somewhere and go over it as many times as possible every day. Keep focusing on it.

Repeating affirmations day in day out ultimately makes you believe in them. Many times we have told ourself something so repeatedly that we begin to believe it is the truth. Nowadays, because affirmations are so popular, you can even buy them in the form of CD’s and cassettes. It’s great if you want ready made affirmations for yourself.

But it’s more effective to create your own affirmations (since no one else understands your emotional needs better).

So what exactly should you remember while making your own affirmations work for you? Go through the checklist below and find out.

1. The first thing to remember is the final purpose of your affirmation. Any affirmation, no matter what purpose it is taken for, should make a person behave positively somehow. For the same reason, the tone of your affirmation should not be negative. Avoid using ‘do not’ in your affirmation even if it sounds perfectly correct.

Instead, give your affirmation a personal and positive tone. Consider this example – you have a habit of smoking and you create an affirmation that reads – ‘I don’t smoke cigarettes.’ Though the affirmation sounds grammatically right, your mind may take it otherwise.

For some odd reason your mind might get stuck to the words ‘smoke cigarettes’ in isolation and you’ll fail to achieve positive results. So your affirmation should read something like this – ‘I take care of my heart and lungs by remaining a non smoker’. (By the way, if you are quitting smoking, see Quit Smoking for tips.)

2. Next is how you make your mind take to the affirmation you have created. Perhaps your affirmation is ‘I am happy, healthy and loving every minute’. If you actually want to believe in this you have to read it innumerable times. Remember, the biggest secret of making your affirmation work is repetition and strong emotion. Repeating your affirmation singularly will not be as beneficial as when you combine that with inflection and emotion.

3. Last, don’t pressure yourself with too much change all at once. Going through an affirmation might seem to be the easiest thing but incorporating it into your life can be really difficult. This is precisely why you should not aim to improve a number of habits at a single instance – lose weight, improve punctuality, work harder etc.

Remember the old saying ‘Baby steps, take one step at a time’, and move ahead choosing a single affirmation to internalize at a time. Once you have mastered that change, pick the next most important one to work on.

This article will help you with your affirmations also. – Goals And Visualization Work Well Together

Tricking The Brain

Maybe you’ve read DILBERT, the cartoon about a micromanaged U.S. business office with an engineer named Dilbert as the main guy. Dilbert appears in 2000 newspapers worldwide in over 60 countries and multiple languages.

However, few people realize how difficult it is for Scott Adams to continue to create.

A typical day might mean having to endure uncomfortable convulsions and spasm-like tremors. Scott has learned to “trick” his brain into working with his hands, instead of against them.

His body may betray him, but he knows that in order to continue his life’s dream, he must be determined to never quit.

So, he and thousands like him, take injections or medications. But most importantly, Scott uses his mind. His most powerful tool in overcoming his physical limits is his thoughts.

Your most valuable tool in overcoming your obstacles is also your thoughts. You have to decide that for today you are going to do what it takes to reach your goals. Today you will make the phone call, write the letter or visit that person. Just for today you can see yourself living the life you want to have. I know it can be difficult at first, but be like Scott… don’t quit. Keep up the hard work. As you do, you’ll find it easier to keep going.

Scott had to decide that his art and drawing are worth the persistence it takes to produce it. Because he chooses to fight through his physical challenge, we know and love his goofy business comic strip with its quirky characters and humorous one-liners.

Living with obstacles is not easy. Perservering is a choice.

I hope that today as you live your life you will choose to do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true. I also hope that you do not have to deal with a chronic disorder like focal dystonia.

But if you do, please realize that you are not alone. I hope you find comfort in that truth. There are thousands who have to deal with similar difficulties.

Choose this day to live determined to overcome your obstacle and one day you will find it easier and easier to make that choice. It may take time but you will make it.

I believe that for you and I believe that about you!!!

Weight Loss – When You Need It and When You Do Not

Weight loss is a tricky subject in America, where so many young girls (and boys) are turning to anorexia, bulimia, and other eat disorders. While weight loss can be a very good and necessary thing, it can also turn into something horrible that affects millions across the nation and can even cause death.

Knowing when you need to lose weight and when you do not is important in the fight against both your personal poor health and the terrible disease of obesity that is sweeping across the United States.

You can know that losing weight is often a very personal option. However, if you are more than 20 pounds overweight, losing the pounds is important for your health.

Look at the recommended weight for someone of your size as a start. However, because everyone’s bodies are different, because of fat and muscle ratio to body weight, you should really see your doctor if you feel like you need to lose weight.

A doctor can confirm this or put your mind to rest by telling you that your weight is normal. This is the best way to make sure that you are being healthy.

There are also times, however, when you definitely do not need to lose weight. First, if you aren’t as thin as your favorite actor or model, that doesn’t mean you need to lose weight.

Often, models and actresses are airbrushed in photos to look more toned and they have personal trainers that work with them for hours every day in order to help them stay in shape.

If your body weight is normal, you do not need to lose weight, even if you are a pants size bigger than your ideal celebrity.

Your also don’t need to lose weight just because you gain it. People gain weight for a number of reasons, and this is especially common during puberty and for the few years after.

If you gain weight check out the rest of your body—are you going through a growth spurt in height as well? Also, don’t worry about gaining weight when you are lifting at the gym.

As you tone your muscles, you will look better, but because muscles are heavier than fat, you may actually gain weight.

Last, you don’t need to lose weight simply because someone else makes a rude comment about your looks. People can be cruel, but everyone has a different body make up.

If you are happy with your weight and it is within the normal range for someone of your age and height, than chances are that the rude comment is stemming from other issues, not because you actually do need to lose weight.

Be happy with yourself, eat a healthy diet and you shouldn’t need to worry about losing weight.

How to Find the Best Weight Loss Program for You by Al Smith

Are you looking to lose weight? If you are, you may be interested in joining a weight loss program. When it comes to joining a weight loss program, you will find that you have a number of different options. If this is your first time joining a weight loss program, you may be unsure as to what you should look for.

One of the best ways to go about finding the perfect weight loss program for yourself is to ask yourself a number of important questions. One of the first questions that you should ask yourself is how much time you have to devote to weight loss. If you were to join a local weight loss program, you would likely be required to attend weekly meeting. Whether you are busy with your family or busy at work, you may not have the time to do so. In that case, you should look into joining an online weight loss program, as they are often designed for those with busy schedules.

Another question that you will want to ask yourself, when looking to find the perfect weight loss program is your willpower. Should you join an online weight loss program, you will be given more freedom, as you do not have to physically report to meetings and answer to group leaders. While this freedom is nice, it has allowed many hopeful individuals to go off track. If you do not think that you can stick with your online weight loss program goals and instructions, it may be better to join a local weight loss program instead.

Another one of the many questions that you will want to ask yourself, when looking for a weight loss program to join, is how much money you have to spend. While it is possible to find free weight loss programs, both locally or online, it is actually quite rare. In your search for weight loss programs, you will find that they have a wide range of membership fees. Commonly, you will find that online weight loss programs are cheaper than locally operated weight loss programs. If you are on a budget, the cost of each weight loss program that you come across should play a large role in your decision.

You should also ask yourself if you are embarrassed about your current weight or your physical appearance. Although you should have nothing to be ashamed of, you may still feel that way. If that is the case, you may be afraid of attending local weight loss meetings. Of course, you need to remember that everyone else in your meetings is likely feeling the same way, but you don’t have to put yourself in an awkward situation. If you are concerned with your appearance or what others may think of you, you may want to look into joining an online weight loss program instead.

The above mentioned questions are just a few of the many that you should ask yourself if you are interested in joining a weight loss program. While there are a number of benefits to joining a locally operated weight loss program, as well as an online weight loss program, you need to make the decision that is best for you and your own needs.

Yes, There Is A Short-Cut To Success!

Untapped Strategies for Success in Today’s Market

“Desperate times require desperate measures” I overheard someone
say the other day. I was standing in line to order my late
afternoon Latte at a well-known coffee establishment and the
buzz in the room wasn’t from the caffeine, it was from the
customer chat. They were expressing their feelings of being
down and out; hopeless of ever getting back what they’ve lost or
of ever achieving what they were hoping to achieve; waiting for
times to change before they would dare to decide what they
should do next and their belief that there were no opportunities
in existence anymore.

I wanted to shout out to infuse them with faith, hope and
confidence by sharing the silver bullet knowledge that I have:
that all the prosperity, success and well-being they seek is
already in and among them, ripe and ready for them to pick up
just as they picked up their Java to go.

Just as a great cup of Joe or green tea jump starts your energy,
these proven strategies will not only start your success engine,
it will provide the short access road to lasting success. But,
before you can turn right on to the Shortcut ROAD TO SUCCESS
just ahead; you must get off the Long Route that leads you to
uncharted territories of uncertainty, delayed outcomes and
unsustainability.

Let’s take a look at the warning signs that let you know you
are on the Long Road:

1. Doing anything just so you are doing something.
2. Waiting to take action steps until times get “better”.
3. Putting all your eggs in one basket. Such as, only pursuing
the thing that you have always done in the past believing that
you can’t do anything else and succeed.
4. Not seeking advancement beyond your last position in today’s
current market conditions believing that it just isn’t realistic.
5. Taking anything that comes your way because that’s the best
that anyone can hope for right now.

All the above represent some of the most common strategic
pitfalls that can undermine your success during turbulent times.
These attitudes and behaviors are within your power to change.
Changing them will take you out of situations that will delay
your successful outcomes and that create conditions that will
not fulfill your need for security and well being. And, without
security and well being, any initial success that you may create
from this place of fear, will become unsustainable.

Here are the strategies that do work in every market condition
and are imperative to staying on the Short Road to Success
especially in Today’s market:

1. USING DISCERNMENT: be conscious of where and how you are
spending your energy and in the choices, actions and decisions
that you make. Here is the truth: The key to obtaining
sustainable success is in understanding and practicing Zander’s
principle of: Positive Energy Ratio Exchange meaning that for
every energy output there must be a greater return of energy.
Unless you are doing philanthropy, the return of energy must be
monetized according to a value evaluation that makes sense for
your greater expansion and growth. If not, then you are
creating a flat and unsustainable wealth and well-being economy
for yourself.

2. HAVING A HEALTHY SENSE OF DETACHMENT: be courageous in your
willingness to release or redefine people, places and things
that do not represent; present or provide advantage to moving you
into a successful new environment of growth and expansion.

3. KEEPING UP MOMENTUM: Persistence is always the winner. Do
not allow yourself to rationalize a non-action state of being
because “times are slow”. Keep putting one foot in front of the
other. There is always a next best action step to take in every
circumstance and situation that will give birth to new
opportunity.

4. CREATE DIVERSITY: Do take the time to take personal
inventory on all the wonderful abilities, gifts and talents that
you have. Then create a multi-tiered (I call it a Success
Ladder) strategy to showcase your talents in many different
industries, forms or outlets for the unleashing of that
entrepreneur residing inside you.

5. DO WHAT FEELS GOOD TO DO: Do the things that bring you a
sense of enthusiasm, excitement, joy and inspire you to go on to
greater and greater horizons. If you chose otherwise, be
realistic that what you are creating won’t provide you with the
sustainable wealth and well-being that you ultimately desire to
achieve.

“The person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is
willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from
shore.” – Dale Carnegie

Knowing What Youre Capable of Through Self-Awareness

Neale Donald Walsch once said, “Words may help us understand but experience allows you to know.”

This means that you learn more about yourself when you observe how you react with the many experiences you have.

Learning is a process that cannot be done overnight. In fact, it is by gradually going through each and every experience that we learn more about ourselves.

The important thing is that we take in every lesson, keep everything in mind, and apply these to the next time we encounter the same situation. You have to learn how to listen to your heart because this is a valuable creative resource.

Spiritual leaders always say that you have to listen to what you’re heart tells you because this is an important aspect of emotional healing and clearing. These may be things that we don’t always dwell on.

Nonetheless, this helps us find our true voice and our genuine self. Why is it important to look deeply inside us? These are ways to find out what went wrong in our lives, what we can work on, and how we can change for the better.

If we don’t do this, we will just go through the same kind of mistakes over and over again. Yes, we might have been aware that we have some negative behavior patterns. But we need to find out what caused those negative behaviors and how we can avoid situations that cause us to act unconstructively.

Although we can consider ourselves intelligent and level-headed in many areas, we can also carry a negative self-image. When we are not confident enough in our abilities, we frequently engage in negative self-talk just to hide the fears lurking in the dark recesses of our minds.

We should first and foremost focus on what is inside us before looking outside. The inner you is the subconscious that holds every memory.

Sometimes, we are just plagued by too many voices. We also need a time of rest and quiet so that our brain can absorb everything it takes in.

To better understand ourselves, we need to practice patience. There’s always room for growth and we must continually strive to improve ourselves so that we get to better know the person we must get most familiar with: us.

If we rush our growth, we fill find ourselves in unfamiliar territory and will just get lost.

How do we achieve that growth?

We first need to get rid of all negativity. Release these emotional attachments and constantly observe our inner dialogue. Know what makes us feel good and shift our attention towards that direction. Let it go and identify what we can have control over.

We don’t need the drama in our lives. This just holds you back. Our parents used to tell us that what we resist persists, and this holds true about our thoughts. If we believe in ourselves and know our worth, we will realize just what we can be capable of.

There are ways to become self-aware, to face the pain, gain the insight and allow growth to happen. Our heart constantly sends messages to our brain.

Listen to your heart and feel the space open to new and novel experiences. This can be your ultimate source of energy, a chance to know your worth and your capabilities more.

Someone once said that it’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not. Self-trust is what gets you to push your limits and take risks.

Of the many secrets to success, self trust and self confidence are foremost. When travelling life’s rough roads, your strength is sometimes put to the test.

You stumble along the way, get lost, and realize just how many mistakes you’ve made. Each experience serves to enhance your knowledge in life. With new lessons learned, you’re given another set of tools to use for battle. Failure is just feedback.

What will make you a winner is your ability to channel all your energy to fulfilling your goals. There things that you simply cannot control. The outside factors that affect your decisions change, and while you try not to wilt away; you must also face up to your challenges and responsibilities.

Blaming others for the repercussions of the decisions that you made is the loser’s way out. Loser. What a horrible term to use, and even worse is when this insult is directed to you.

The most important factor to consider is how you’ll react to these changes. In life, there are just some things that are out of our hands.

You must have a Plan B for every important decision that you make, or else, a slight change can send your entire structure of cards falling down.

When you do fall down, what will set you apart from all the ordinary people is your ability to get up. The harder you’ll fall, the more you’ll strive.

Winners just don’t quit. Even with their sore behinds, they simply get up and take these battle scars along with them as reminders of their courage and tenacity. Success only comes with some sacrifice on your end.

Whoever said that becoming successful is easy must have been dreaming because if it were, then we all would have been wildly successful by now. Winners put in more hours than anybody else.

If blood, sweat, and tears have to be offered, then you should do it without batting an eyelash. And if you feel that there are just too many forces working against you, just don’t let these things break you.

Another secret to success is to believe in your talent and abilities no matter what everybody else says. No one knows you better, and no one understands you more than you.

It’s all in you, the knowledge and the capacity to surpass the things that hinder you from becoming who you can be. You can’t please everybody all of the time, and some of these people may discourage you from moving forward.

You need to learn how to channel these negative voices out (ignore) and focus (pay attention) on the words of those people who give you support.

When you keep these three secrets to success in mind, you can’t help but become the confident person that you should be. You need to know that you can do it.

It may not happen in the way that you wanted, but the point here is that you can. What sets winners apart from the rest is their ability to dream big and to know that their dreams can happen. They persist through it all and stay their course to their goals.
