Depression – Symptoms To Watch For

Unless someone is familiar with the symptoms of depression, it’s hard to diagnose. Over 15 million Americans will suffer some type of depression this year and many will not even know that they have it. 2/3 of those never seek help.

Why is depression hard to spot? The answer is easy. Occasional issues like sadness are common and have nothing to do with depression. Therefore, it is not always easy to distinguish between what is perfectly normal and what it a sign of danger.

It’s not unusual to feel some negative feelings on occasion. For instance many people feel a bit unhappy when they turn 40. There are many who see this as some milestone of reflection that causes us to ponder and evaluate our lives.

Having this illness does not make you a loser. It is just another condition that must be addressed. You may find it very difficult to function like you used to at first.

It may be that once interesting activities now seem bland and a waste of time. Clinical Depression results in long term hopelessness and feelings of remorse. This sickness will not simply disappear. It’s not just a few days of sadness that you’ll eventually overcome. It’s a more serious, long term condition, this Clinical Depression.
